A writer rents out a room in a run-down house that has been empty for a long time. He has put all of his money into fixing up the old apartment, and he can't wait to show it to his best friend, who he thinks will be thrilled with what he's done.

But her reaction is quite the opposite. Even though everything is clean and newly painted, she hates it. She also seems to have a significant amount of bad luck whenever she comes to visit. The writer, on the other hand, can't seem to get anything done there, and the more he tries to get his latest novel written, the more he seems to think that it is terrible and that he's a failure.
